There is the “wife” caste position and there is the “handmaid” caste position. A woman who is in the “handmaid” caste position has one sole purpose. She is appointed to a man who is the husband of the woman in the “wife” caste position. The “handmaid’s” job is to sleep with the husband so that she gets pregnant and births a child.

“A Handmaid’s Tale” is a based off of a book. The book is also named “A Handmaid’s Tale.” It is written by the feminist-activist and Women’s Studies professor who is named Margaret Atwood.

  1. This is a dark but very compelling television show. I was horrified when I first watched it but I got used to the dark themes and story-telling. I can’t wait to see where the show goes in this next season.
