Britney Spears is given the freedom to hire her own chosen attorney in her conservatorship case

Britney Spears was given the freedom to pick her own attorney in her conservatorship trial. Britney Spears is currently in the middle of the trial that involves her father. Her father is named James Spears.

Britney Spears was placed in a conservatorship under her father Jamie Spears. She was under the conservatorship for thirteen years. In this conservatorship Britney Spears’ income is controlled by her father. He has the power to use Britney Spears’ income for whatever he wishes. He also has the power to send Britney Spears to a rehabilitation facility, to force Britney Spears to use an IUD (though she wants more children), and other restrictions that curtail Britney Spears’ rights as an adult.

A court hearing took place on June 23 where Britney Spears accused her father of enforcing many restrictions and rules that limit her freedom.

The judge who is named Brenda Penny allowed Britney Spears to hire a new attorney. Britney Spears hired Mathew Rosengart as her attorney. Mathew Rosengart was the attorney that represented celebrities such as Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck, Sean Penn, and Eddie Vedder.

This is what Britney Spears stated in a court hearing with the judge who is named Brenda Penny:

“The main reason why I am here is because I want to end the conservatorship,” said Britney Spears. “I should not be in a conservatorship if I can work and provide for myself. It makes no sense. The laws need to change. I worked since I was seventeen-years-old.”

There are celebrities like Ariana Grande who support Britney Spears in this court case. Ariana Grande wrote this on her social media account: “YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED AND SUPPORTED.”

I hope many more fans or Britney Spears grow aware of her situation. We should support Britney Spears, America’s Pop Princess, at this difficult time.

Always and forever,
Summer Parker
