Rita Moreno is a well-loved old Hollywood actress. She is known for being Anita on the 1961 movie-musical, West Side Story.
There is a new West Side Story movie-musical out in movie theaters now. The movie-musical stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler. Zegler is a relatively new face on our silver screens. She plays the main character named Maria in the new movie-musical. Ansel Elgort is well-known for his movie role in the movie, “The Fault in Our Stars.” He is Tony in the new movie-musical.
Moreno is also in the new movie-musical that stars Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort. She plays the character named “Valentina.” “Valentina” is the widow of the character named “Doc” in the film.
Ariana DeBose plays Moreno’s old movie role as Anita. This is what Moreno has to say about Ariana DeBose:
“She is a beautiful Anita in the movie. It was bizarre because suddenly I was playing another movie role and she was playing Anita… a character that I loved playing… a character that changed my life.”
Moreno won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Anita in the `1961 version of the movie-musical.
Ariana DeBose has a lot to live-up to as the new Anita.
The new movie-musical, West Side Story, was released in select movie theaters on Friday. You should check-it-out.
Always and forever,
Summer Parker

I am going to take my daughter to see the new West Side Story. She is very excited to see it because Maddie Ziegler is a dancer in the movie-musical.

This song and dance by Anita is iconic. She sings with spirit and vitality. I can’t wait to see how the song translates in this new movie.

I can’t wait to see how Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose play Maria and Anita. They are two great movie roles because the girls are strong and tough women.
