It was announced that Madeleine Albright died at the age of eighty-four-years-old today. Madeleine Albright was the 64th Secretary of State in the United States of America. She was the first woman to hold that position.
The Secretary of State is the leader of foreign policy in the United States of America. He or she is the head of a part of the American government known as the Department of State.
She was also the United States Ambassador to the organization named The United Nations. She held this position in the 1990’s era when the president of the United States of America was Bill Clinton.
Madeleine Albright died of cancer.
“We are heartbroken to announce that Dr. Madeleine K. Albright, the 64th U.S. Secretary of State and the first woman to hold that position, passed away earlier today,” said the Albright family on Twitter.
“The cause was cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. We have lost a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.”
